Start with clarity
Operating Scale Discovery
A paid, facilitated, evidence-based look at how business objectives connect to priorities, capacity, decision rights, and what done means. The normal first engagement with Ergon.
What it is
Shared clarity, on evidence.
Most organizations do not have a technology problem. They have a clarity problem that shows up in technology: leadership cannot see whether the investment is moving the business, and the team is left to infer priorities, ownership, tradeoffs, and what finished means.
Discovery puts both sides in the same room with the same evidence and builds the chain explicitly: business objective, measurable outcome, capability, prioritized work, accountable owner, definition of done, visible progress.
It is not a generic AI assessment, an automated score, or a free consulting call. It is paid, facilitated, and it ends in a recommendation you can act on, with or without Ergon.
Who this is for
Growing organizations, PE-backed companies, and owner-led businesses where some of these are true:
- Priorities are contested, or everything is a priority
- Capacity is a guess, and commitments keep outrunning it
- Progress is reported in activity, not outcomes
- Decisions stall because nobody is sure who owns them
- Trust between the business and the technology team is thin
- You are unsure what to automate, build, or scale next
What you leave with
- Priorities aligned across business and technology leadership
- Capacity constraints named, with evidence
- Decision rights that are explicit, not negotiated weekly
- Definitions of done for the work that matters
- Operating visibility leadership can trust
- A sequenced next-move roadmap, with owners
High-level outcomes only. The specific shape of a Discovery is scoped to the organization on the strategy call.
How it works
Evidence, not opinion
We look at how work actually moves: the plans, the backlog, the meetings, the reports, and the gaps between them. Interviews on both sides of the black box.
Facilitated, in the room
Discovery is led by an experienced operator working with your leadership and your team together, so the clarity is shared, not handed down.
Connected end to end
Business objective, measurable outcome, capability, prioritized work, definition of done, visible progress. One chain, made explicit.
An honest conclusion
Discovery may recommend leadership, execution, education, a product, or nothing further from Ergon. The recommendation is the deliverable, not a sales step.
After Discovery
The roadmap is yours. If you want Ergon to stay, fractional technology leadership sustains the alignment, and delivery under that leadership moves the roadmap.
Common questions
- Is this a free consultation?
- No. Discovery is a paid, facilitated engagement. The strategy call that precedes it is free and is where we decide together whether Discovery fits. Discovery is scoped to the organization; we discuss the investment on that call rather than publishing a rate card.
- Is this an AI readiness assessment?
- No. There is no quiz, no automated score, and no tool list. AI, automation, and systems are methods that may show up in the roadmap after the business outcome and operating readiness are established.
- What if we already know what we need?
- Then say so. If the baseline and roadmap are clear, leadership can be engaged directly, and delivery can be scoped under it. Discovery is the normal entry, not a mandatory one.
- Who needs to be involved?
- The business owner of the outcome, whoever leads product or technology, and the people who do the work. Discovery only works when both sides of the black box are in the room.
- What happens after Discovery?
- You have a shared picture and a sequenced set of next moves. Some organizations execute those themselves. Others engage Ergon for leadership, for delivery under that leadership, or for team enablement. The roadmap is yours either way.
